“A well-known vocalist, was a court-musician of Patiala for 24 years (1913-37). In his young age he used to accompany his father Mammam Khan as a supporting artiste…He grew into an expert singer of Khayal and Tarana, and performed regularly on radio and in several courts including Mysore, Hyderabad, Baroda and Gwalior. Later, he became the music supervisor for Delhi station of All India Radio in 1937. Besides his family members, he trained many students including, among others, Kamal and Vijoy Laxmi Sehgal (husband and wife), Dr Krishna Chakravorty, Shankar Shambhu Qawwal (Bombay), Iqbal Banu (Pakistan).”
