About Dilip Chandra Vedi

Dilip Chandra Vedi (1901-1992) – was from Anandpur, Punjab, and a vocalist of the Agra Gharana. Love of music brought him to Mumbai where he studied under the great vocalist Bhaskarbuwa Bakhale. After Bhaskarbuwa’s death, Vedi trained under Faiyyaz Hussain Khan. Vedi was also a very good harmonium player. He was fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and English. Among his disciples are Amarnath, M.R. Gautam and Chinmoy Lahiri.
