Mushtaq Ali Khan (1911-1989), a Sitar and Surbahar player of Calcutta, was born in 1911…He received the National Award of the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1968 and D. Litt., from the Rabindra Bharati University in 1973. He was a recipient of the Emeritus Fellowship of the Government of India. He was said to be the sole representative of the Senee-baz. A virtuous person and a generous teacher…he passed away on July 21, 1989.
