About Kashinath Bodas

Kashinath Bodas (1935-1995), based in Kanpur for much of his life, was trained in the Gwalior style by his father Shankar Bodas who was a direct disciple of Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. Later, Kashinath Bodas came under the spell and tutelage of Kumar Gandharva. His was a deeply sensitive and aesthetic approach to music. He was particularly adept at rendering bhajans. He was also a keen composer. Among his students is his sister Veena Sahasrabuddhe. Bodas visited America in the summer of 1995 and I had the pleasure of accompanying him on the harmonium at two private mehfils in the Bay Area of San Francisco. Two weeks later, on July 20, 1995, he suffered a heart attack in Toronto and passed away.
