The Shiva Temple at Vaikom in Kottayam district, among the most important temples in India. This was also the site of the Vaikom Satyagraha in 1924, the movement to grant temple entry to "untouchables." Mahatma Gandhi came here and had talks with the Queen of Travancore. See this.
